In September, 2003, we opened our 10,000 square foot facility located a few miles inland from Ventura Harbor. Please refer to "Tour of the Shop" page.
Our first project at the new shop
was a 1947 Dragon Class Sloop, which arrived in early October, 2003.
Very little of the original boat was salvageable, and so a total restoration/replacement was in order. She was framed with laminated Eastern White Ash and double-planked with Honduras Mahogany to achieve a strong, lightweight hull while retaining traditional looks, yet capable of being dry-stored in Southern California. Her hull is finished bright inside and out.
Current projects include two complete restorations, the 42-foot gaff yawl Cho-Cho-San, originally built in 1921, and the 65 foot Sparkman and Stephens motor sailer Tamerlane, originally built in 1933 at the Lawley Shipyard in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
